For all my myLot friends - I would like to share some advice that some of my friends on myLot told me about. I thought I'd share it with you, since it can really multiply your earnings on myLot. I have been informed that, when you post/reply to discussions, if you write at least six lines, you will be paid a higher amount for that, than if you were to just write one or two lines. If you can keep your sentences short, then six lines is not a lot ! So friends, try to keep this advice in mind for your future discussions and the money start to add up quicker than it was before.

Health notes with a few natural remedies Part #3

    Tummy ailments are most common excuse I have heard and it affects just about every person. People tend to pick up stomach ailments due to various factors like: hygiene (not only personal but also food hygiene), freshness of the food item, and finally how clean the surroundings are.

    It seems that some of the most common stomach ailments we encounter are: stomach pain, gastric pain, discomfort, spasms. A change of diet with more intake of fiber usually helps in overcoming these problems. Battling constipation is no fun either as it is really unhealthy for the body because the body will tend to reabsorb the toxins back (in the form of water) when stools stay in the digestive track for too long. Lots of health problems stems from digestive problems like this like loss of hunger and lethargy. There are various natural remedies to fix these common problems but the ones which I had tried and found successful over the years were using natural ingredients which are commonly found in the kitchen. Some food items like Ginger, Heeng (Asafetida), Mint, Black Pepper, Yogurt and Turmeric do manage to successfully cure most ailments without the need of a doctor.

    Black Pepper has great anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant properties. It also helps in promoting a healthy appetite as it signals the stomach to produce hydrochloric acid which is required to digest food. This prevents food from staying for too long in the stomach, and prevents stomach irritation and flatulence. From the nutritional point of view, Black Pepper is very useful source of manganese, iron, and dietary fiber. It can be added to any food item like soups, tea, etc to add that extra punch to bland foods.

    Turmeric is one of my favorite spices as it adds great taste and gives the food an excellent color. Turmeric is one of nature's most powerful healers known to man and it has been used for many centuries in India before the rest of the discovered it. It has many beneficial health effects some of which I am aware of are: helps in speeding up the healing process of any wounds in the body no matter where they are located, a natural anti-inflammatory that works as well as many anti-inflammatory drugs but without any known side effects, it is a natural treatment for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent, useful in disinfecting cuts and burns and many more.

    Ginger is another all time favorite item which we add not only to our foods, but also to our tea. There are many benefits of using ginger such as curing nausea, digestive problems, circulation and arthritis. Ginger has been known to have the ability to calm an upset stomach. Stomach cramps can be eased and circulation can also be improved to some degree. Ginger supports a healthy cardiovascular system by making platelets less sticky which in turn reduces circulatory problems.

    Heeng (Asafetida) has been used as a flavoring agent in Indian foods for ages. A pinch of Asafetida is normally added to food preparations to give it an unique pungent taste and smell. Asafetida is used as a flavoring agent and forms a constituent of many spice mixtures. It is used to flavor all types of food preparations like: curries, dal and pickles. One must remember to use only minute quantities by adding it directly to cooking liquid and frying in oil till it is light brown in color. When a person is suffering from gas or the bloated feeling, a little bit of Asafetida either in a glass of water or taken with a few slices of fresh Ginger roots helps relieve the suffering.

    Yogurt is one of the best kept home remedy secrets and it does wonders for all types of digestive problems. It is a cure all natural remedy for many common stomach ailments like constipation, loose motions, indigestion, etc. Once you incorporate it into your diet, you will notice that you will not only start to feel healthier but more active in your daily life. It an excellent way of inhibiting excessive appetite since eating yogurt makes a person feel fuller for a longer period of time. It must be remembered that taking antibiotics kills all the bacteria (both good and bad). This leads to improper digestion which can only be corrected by replacing them by eating yogurt which has been shown to replace the good bacteria which was destroyed by the antibiotics.
    Yogurt is just regular milk that contains active live cultures. The good bacteria contained in the yogurt is extremely important for the proper functioning of the body, boost the immune system of the body, yeast infections and can also prevent urinary tract infections in some cases. If a person does not like the taste of plain yogurt, then it can be eaten in a variety of other ways like with either salt, sugar, fruits or nuts added. If a person is having tummy problems and keeps running to the loo, then food must be avoid and in its place yogurt with fried turmeric in a bit of oil and salt to taste can be eaten as a substitute. The yogurt should be heated just a bit until it’s warm.

    Some of our lifestyle dieses can be controlled if not cured by making correction to our eating habits and by modifying our lifestyle. There are many natural remedies available out there which are quiet useful in correcting the imbalances in our body. But, on the same note, I would like to say that self help is not always advisable nor is it always possible under some conditions. At times we are not knowledgably enough to recognize the symptoms which might worsen if proper professional treatment is not given immediately so that they are cured of the ailment which they are afflicted with and lead a healthier and fuller life. Awareness is the key to treating the symptoms correctly. But it should be kept in mind that as with all medications, one has to be fully aware of the effects/side effects of the treatment which they are using.
